Class Overview

  • Upon successful completion, you will receive a Safety/Proficiency Certificate valid for 1 year (this is not to be confused with the 5-year CCW permit).
  • Our instructors are highly trained, experienced, and meet all the requirements of the Nevada Sheriff's and Chief's Association.

  • All Nevada CCW permits offer reciprocity with other states.

  • Renewal applications must be submitted between 120 days prior to and 120 days after your current expiration date.
  • The CCW Certificate is valid for 1 year from the date of issuance.

Nevada CCW Full Class

For First Time or Renewal Applicants (Nevada Residents excluding Clark County and Nevada Non-Residents):

What to Bring to Class

  • Valid Photo Identification (The name on your permit must match our registration details)
  • Handgun (available for rent, but ownership is highly recommended)
  • 50 rounds of ammunition
  • Eye & Ear Protection (available for rent, but ownership is highly recommended)
  • Optional: Snack, lunch, and beverage

We provide the B27 target used for the qualification.

After Completing the Class

Upon successfully completing our class, you will receive a Safety/Proficiency Certificate of Completion that must be presented to the Sheriff's Office.
(Note: Clark County does not accept certificates from outside Clark County.)

The certificate can be submitted up to one year from the class date. The CCW application fee will be collected by the Sheriff at the time of application.

Once you receive your permit, you are eligible to carry any handgun concealed until the expiration date on your permit (permits are valid for 5 years).

  • In Nevada, it is a Category C Felony to conceal a firearm without a permit (NRS 202.350, NRS 193.130, NRS 202.253).
  • All Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) supersede any information on this website.
  • Nevada Concealed Carry permits are recognized in various other states.
  • If you fail to renew your permit within 120 days of expiration, you must re-apply as a new applicant. Nevada allows a 120-day grace period after expiration; if your appointment with the Sheriff's Office is beyond 120 days after expiration, you must take the full CCW class.

Class Requirements

First Time (Initial) Applicants

Residents and non-residents must take a class (minimum 8 hours of class time) and successfully pass both a written test and a shooting qualification. This class also satisfies renewal requirements and is offered as a 1-day or 2-day option.

Renewal Applicants

Residents and non-residents are required to take a class (minimum 4 hours of class time) and successfully pass a shooting qualification. The Nevada CCW permit is valid for 5 years; once expired, you cannot carry concealed until you receive a new permit. There is no grace period beyond the 120-day renewal window.

Application Submission to Sheriff

Concealed Weapons Permits are regulated by Nevada Revised Statute 202.3653. Nevada does not accept certificates from online training providers—only in-class training is acceptable for full and renewal certifications.

The Nevada Application for Concealed Firearm Permit is available online (to be signed at application time) or at the Sheriff's Office. Applicants must appear in person; fingerprints, photo, and the permit fee will be collected at the Sheriff's Office along with your Certificate of Completion.
